A Practical Example

After the votes are counted and the mixed votes are taken into consideration, the overall percentage obtained by both teams could be derived. For example Team A and Team have respectfully garnered 62% and 38% of the votes.

Despite having 38%, Team B will fail to elect a representative because of the FPTP limitations. With the MMP system Team A would have won 7 seats and Team B would have 4 seats. This is obtained by multiplying the overall percentage obtained by the number of seats available (11 in KSU’s case).
